A recent windows 11 update is preventing VG software products from starting.
The problem occurred for the first time with a Windows preview update (January 29, 2026—KB5074105 (OS Builds 26200.7705 and 26100.7705) Preview - Microsoft Support), and it was mass rolled out with the regular Windows update a week after that. Newer Windows 11 updates may also show this issue.
Our analysis shows that this behavior is caused by an interaction between the Windows 11 update and a third-party component used within VG software.
Such incompatibility is often caused by updating an operating system without updating the software running on it, so we highly recommend our customers contact our sales department for a software maintenance agreement.
Staying up to date will not only prevent such problems in the future, but it will also enrich your VG products with numerous new features like Paint & Segment, our new PIA GUI, deep segmentation capabilities and much more that will boost your work productivity and make the software easier to use. For those users who decide to take the risk of staying on an outdated VG version on non-supported newer operating systems, we decided to provide a patch that fixes this single issue. Please find the download link here:
This downloaded ZIP file contains a command line tool provided by the vendor of the affected third-party component, as well as a small patch program “VGWindows11PatchTool.exe” that will allow you to easily apply the fix to installed products. We recommend using the patch program, but information on how to use the stand-alone command line tool is available in the file “readme.txt”
This patch is provided as-is and comes without any warranties. We cannot guarantee that it will restore functionality on your particular Windows and VG software version combination.
Please note that VG software is supported under Windows 11 from version 2023.1. Using older versions under Windows 11 is not supported.
Be aware that applying the patch will alter some files in your VG software installation, causing their software signatures to become invalid. Depending on your system configuration, Windows Defender or other antivirus software may warn you about this or even prevent startup. Should you need support regarding this specific issue, please refer to your internal IT department.
